We would love you to join us for our church weekend away
After the success of our last 2 weekend aways, we would love you to join us again in April 2025 as we gather together with HBC Chester and Overflow Church Winsford, Riverhouse Life from Pembroke and Hope Community Church based in Northwich.
A weekend for all the family. A weekend of making friends, loads of fun and activities and lots of opportunities to encounter God, worship, and discover more about God and who we are. As it's a family event, the kids and youth will have their own activities and meetings
(all youth and kids activities will follow HBC policies).
Who's are main speakers
We have Ken and Sue Benjamin joining us. Formerly President of Baptists Together (the Baptist Union of Great Britain), Ken joined LICC in September 2020. He is a leading voice in the whole-life discipleship movement, with a reputation as both a trusted leader and an engaging speaker.
He brings a wealth of whole-life disciplemaking experience to LICC, having spent over 20 years as senior minister at Chichester Baptist Church. He’s perfectly placed to get alongside church leaders and help them equip their congregations to take their faith outside the building and into the places where God sends them.
As Director of Church Relationships at LICC, Ken is responsible for leading our church-facing work, helping fuel a sustainable whole-life disciplemaking culture in the UK church.
His areas of expertise include how to integrate a whole-life culture into all aspects of church strategy and thinking; how to embed that culture in the church for the long term; and the missional effectiveness of whole-life discipleship.
He is the author of the Vital Signs book, part of LICC’s major Vital Signs resource, which helps leaders embed whole-life disciplemaking in their church culture.
Ken is married to Sue, and they have two adult children. In his free time, he enjoys playing golf and tennis as well as time away in his VW camper.

Where is Cefn Lea?
Cefn Lea is a Christian holiday centre near Newtown, Mid-Wales. It's roughly 1hr 30 mins from Chester and 1hr 45 mins from Winsford (may take slightly longer with Friday traffic).
What are the accommodation and facilities like?
Cefn Lea has various accommodation, a bungalow, cabins and some static caravans. Unfortunately, you won't have a choice of what accommodation type you stay in as this will be chosen to best fit bed allocation. The general rule is the log cabins and bungalow will be great for families. There are also tent and camper/caravan pitches with electric hook ups.
What are the bungalow/chalets like?
The bungalow has a total of 6 bedrooms, with rooms sleeping up to 3 or 4 people, with a communal kitchen and lounge area. The chalets have 3 bedrooms each sleeping up to 4 or 5 people and a kitchen and lounge area. Unfortunately, none of our accommodation is ensuite. To give you advance warning, all bedrooms feature bunk beds - great for kids! We appreciate that it is not ideal for couples, however, you can still book a room - the spare bunk beds are great for bag storage! There are duvets and pillows provided in each bedroom, however, you need to bring your own sheets, pillowcases and duvet covers / sleeping bags.
Accommodation is ideal for families or friends wanting to share and we aim to accommodate people wanting to be in the same building as much as possible. When booking please put the names of who you would like to share with on the booking form (there is designated space for this).
What are Leisure Homes (static caravans) like?
We have limited availability so you will need to book quick. Individual Leisure Homes consists of 3 bedrooms (1 bedroom with double bed, 2 bedrooms with 2 singles in each) with a lounge, kitchen & bathroom sleeping up to 6 people. There are duvets and pillows provided in each bedroom, however, you need to bring your own sheets, pillowcases and duvet covers / sleeping bags.
To share accommodation with friends please let us know on the booking form.
If you would prefer to stay off site, Newtown is only around 15 mins away and you can book a weekend or day pass to join us on site.
What are the rest of the facilities like?
On site, there are loads of facilities from tennis courts, sports hall, a park for children, pitch and putt, crazy golf, frisbee golf, indoor children's area, table tennis, nature reserve, forest trail and walks. For a small charge you can also play pool, air hockey or table football.
For more details please have a look at Cefn Lea's Website.
What's the cost?
Cost includes all your food for the weekend all cooked for you; all you need to do is help clear your table. We even have a buffet on Fri from 7pm and we finish the weekend with Sunday Lunch. Cefn Lea are able to accommodate dietary requirements; you simply need to let us know when you book.
When booking you have 3 options of paying after we have confirmed your booking.
-
Pay in Full.
-
Pay deposit of £20 per adult, £10 per child with remainder before 4th March.
-
Pay in monthly instalments (first payment is £20 per adult and £10 per child and then the rest can be paid monthly with final payment made before 4th March).
As a church family we don't want cost to be an issue and the prices are being subsidised this year. However, we are aware that even these prices may still be a lot, we don't want cost to put anyone off, so if you need help please tick the "I need help box" and we will contact you and see how we can support you.

Youth
This year we have the incredible Emma coming back to do our youth work, the young people had an incredible time with her last year and we are confident it will be another great year in the youth. She has been in youth ministry for over 9 years, she loves drama and currently works for CSCW. She has a huge heart for young people and loves being creative.
The program will be packed with...
-Fun and silly games
-Creative things like creating a short film which they did last year
-And most importantly Jesus will be woven through it all
The youth will be for school years 7-13
The program will be sent out closer to the time.
I plan on sharing a tent or room with someone else. What's the best way to book?
1) Arrange who you are sharing with and when you book add their names in the section listed who are you sharing with.
2) If you can't find someone to share with and are happy to share a room then simply put this in the box and we will find someone to share with you.
Can I stay off site?
Yes you can. Newtown is the closest town which is only 15 minutes away, if you choose to stay off site, you still need to book a weekend or day pass. Day Pass includes all meals (except breakfast).
Can I visit just for a day?
Yes, you just need to book a Day Pass. Day Passes include Sat lunch and evening meal, and Sunday lunch.
How do I get there?
The best way to get there is by car. However, there is a train station in Newtown, which is 5 miles away from Cefn Lea. Everyone is responsible for making their own way to Cefn Lea. If you are struggling to organise a lift, please speak to a leader (if you are in a Missional Community, please speak to your Missional Community leader first).
As a young person can I come without my parent/guardian?
Yes, you can book and we would love for you to come. However, this is slightly different to the youth weekend where our youth workers take responsibility for everyone. As it's a church weekend for the whole church, we want to give our youth workers a bit less responsibility. If you would like to come, we recommend your parents find another adult who is happy to take responsibility for you. To help ensure that this is organised correctly you would need to download and fill this form in. If you have any questions, please speak to Paul Stevens or Rachel Sims.
Kids
We have Sarah from Adventures with Jesus coming to do our Kids work. She is passionate about empowering children to encounter God for themselves. She has done our younger kids work for the past 2 weekend aways and she did an amazing job and we believe that your kids will have an incredible time with her and her team over the weekend, they will have lots of fun as well growing in their relationship with Jesus.
-
The younger kids work will be for ages 2 to reception
-
The older kids will be for school years 1-6
This will be a fun filled program for both age ranges that will be sent out closer to the time.
